Hello! This past week, Ms. Malakoff and Ms. Cox finished our classroom guidance unit with Habit 3: "Putting First Things First." Leader in Me's "Putting First Things First" means We spoke about Habit 3: "Putting First Things First." This habit talks about the importance of putting the things that you HAVE/NEED to do before doing things you WANT/WOULD like to do. For example, doing your homework before watching your favorite TV show. We loved seeing our students' school spirit this past week! Tuesday was Military Pride Day, Wednesday was High School Pride Day, Thursday was College Spiritwear Day, and Friday was Career Dress-Up Day! Reminder that students are off on both Monday and Tuesday! Starting on Wednesday, we will begin talking about careers/jobs, which intertwines with Habit 2: "Beginning with the End in Mind" to promote November's College and Career Awareness Month. We will be visiting Kindergarten, Fourth Grade, and Fifth Grade classrooms. In Kindergarten, we will be discussing with students careers from A-Z by reading the book LMNO Peas and then students will be given a coloring sheet of careers from A-Z! In Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade, we will be playing CAREER JEOPARDY! to discuss the many different career choices out there! Ms. Malakoff and Ms. Cox are excited to announce that we will be having "Career Chats" for Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade students on November 21 and November 21. During the "career chats," students will be picking out of 5 or 6 different career choices, what they would be most interested in learning more about. We are so thankful for some of our parents volunteering to chat with our students about their career! Some career choices that students will have the choice of listening to are a news reporter, meteorologist, health insurance agent, information technology manager, firefighter/paramedic, and more! In other news, Fifth Grade gifted testing will end this upcoming Thursday, November 10. Results will be mailed to parents/guardians the second week of December.
